Email the Foreign Secretary: British Jews support Palestine recognition
At the current UN General Assembly, the UK government is expected to take a historic step, by recognising Palestine as a state. As British Jews who want to see a political resolution to the conflict, we support this move which affirms the right to self-determination for both Palestinians and Israelis. This announcement takes place in the context of the New York Declaration, which calls for the release of all hostages and the end of Hamas rule in Gaza.
Military action in Gaza continues to escalate, hundreds of thousands of Palestinians are being displaced, remaining Israeli hostage lives are at grave risk, while government ministers promote plans to settle Gaza and expand sovereignty in the West Bank.
We are moving closer to a one-state reality – the time to recognise Palestine and push towards a negotiated two-state solution is now.
Our voices are needed: the government is expected to face backlash from parts of our community – we must ensure they hear from those of us who want the UK government to act in favour of lasting resolutions.
Will you join us in writing to the new Foreign Secretary, Yvette Cooper, to state your support?

Email your MP: Stop anti-democratic NGO bill
On May 5, 2025, the Israeli Knesset Constitution Committee began deliberations on a new NGO taxation bill. If passed, this legislation would impose severe restrictions on civil society organisations operating in Israel, particularly those reliant on foreign state funding. The bill poses an urgent and credible threat to the operational and legal viability of numerous human rights groups, peace building organisations and other non-governmental organisations.
This is an urgent appeal to civil society allies, policymakers, and international stakeholders. We urge immediate and coordinated action to oppose this legislation through public advocacy, diplomatic engagement, and legislative scrutiny. International pressure has historically helped block similar measures. That precedent must be invoked now to defend the integrity of Israel’s democratic institutions and preserve civic space. Without the involvement of the USA in pushing back against this bill it is essential that the UK and other European governments take the lead.

Tell Board of Deputies to support two state solution
On Wednesday 17th July, Israel’s Knesset voted 68-9 to reject the two-state solution, stating ‘the Knesset of Israel firmly opposes the establishment of a Palestinian state’.
The Board of Deputies of British Jews has been vocal about their support for a two-state solution. Now, we urge them to use their voice as the representative body of our community to make it clear that the British Jewish community does not agree with the Israeli Knesset, and that our community wants a long term resolution: a two state solution.
Sign our open letter to voice your continued support for a two state solution, and urge the Board of Deputies to ensure your voice is heard.

Demand the Board of Deputies speaks out against violence in Jerusalem (May 2021)
“This past week we have witnessed unprecedented violence and racism in the holy city of Jerusalem, including at the holy Muslim site of Al-Aqsa. The Board of Deputies cannot credibly claim to be anti-racist as long as you refuse to condemn this racism on the streets of Jerusalem.”
