Email the Foreign Secretary: British Jews support Palestine recognition

At the current UN General Assembly, the UK government is expected to take a historic step, by recognising Palestine as a state. As British Jews who want to see a political resolution to the conflict, we support this move which affirms the right to self-determination for both Palestinians and Israelis. This announcement takes place in the context of the New York Declaration, which calls for the release of all hostages and the end of Hamas rule in Gaza.

Military action in Gaza continues to escalate, hundreds of thousands of Palestinians are being displaced, remaining Israeli hostage lives are at grave risk, while government ministers promote plans to settle Gaza and expand sovereignty in the West Bank.

We are moving closer to a one-state reality – the time to recognise Palestine and push towards a negotiated two-state solution is now.

Our voices are needed: the government is expected to face backlash from parts of our community – we must ensure they hear from those of us who want the UK government to act in favour of lasting resolutions.

Will you join us in writing to the new Foreign Secretary, Yvette Cooper, to state your support?
